Escanaba’s Municipal Marina sports 165 boat slips, docks, and moorings which provides plenty of room for both the seasonal and transient boaters.  For the larger vessels, 60 feet and larger, there is broadside docking for them. The Marina is located on the 120 acre Ludington Park complex on the west of the shore of Green Bay’s Little Bay De Noc.  The marina offers night security watchman, full range of utility services, full-time dock attendants, restrooms and shower facilities, marine fuels, sanitary pump out and much more.

Snowmobiling in the Upper Peninsula is very popular for those all around. Escanaba is a very popular place for snowmobilers to go and ride. The snow trials in Escanaba open when there is enough snow on the ground to handle the snowmobiles. The time of each year varies because each year we start getting snow at different times. The normal time for the trails to open is either in November or December. There are many of the hotels in the city that offer some sort of access to snowmobile trails. When booking your hotel, make sure you ask them to make sure you have a trail to get right onto or access to one from the hotel.

Fishing in the Little Bay De Noc and the Big Bay De Noc are a good place to go to get your fish during any season. In the fall the Bay De Nocs are well known for their trophy walleyes that many people get, but there are many different species to catch throughout the whole year.  Some of the other fish you will have the chance to catch are small mouth bass, northern pike, perch and salmon. If you do not have your own boat you are more than welcome to go on a charter trip.

One place to go hiking in Escanaba is the Portage Marsh. The Portage Marsh is a long narrow peninsula just out into the Green Bay portion of Lake Michigan. There is a cattail marsh between the peninsula and the mainland. This provides a good protective cover for many kinds of wetland wildlife. If you want to see the wildlife from down below, just jump on a boat and check everything out. There is a boat tamp that has access right to the marsh. The Portage Marsh is also a well known place for public hunting. Hunting in Escanaba is a favorite to many of locals and many tourists. Some of the things you can go hunting for are elk, bear, turkey, deer and for many other small game animals. Each animal’s hunting season starts at a different time. Be sure to check with Michigan’s DNR to confirm dates and regulations for each animal you want to hunt.
